My son is gonna be 2 in July which also happens to be when my second kid is gonna show up. I’ve officially entered the stage of life where everyone has kids and toddlers are all over the place. So, it should come as no surprise that my free time creative endeavors are starting to lean towards toddler entertainment. I still try to write puzzles for grownups at night and on the weekends as well, but there’s only so many hours in the day.
Basically – when we’re in the car or needing to keep our son occupied for a long stretch of time we admittedly sometimes find ourselves showing him videos. I know, I know: it’s a bad parenting tactic. But he LOVES watching short YouTube videos about animals! However, after watching said videos over and over (which all have like billions of views, by the way) I couldn’t take it anymore. They’re all super boring and take themselves way too seriously. I mean, they’re 3 minute videos for 2 year olds. Come on. It doesn’t need to be national geographic.
So I decided to start making animal videos that I would love to come across as a parent. Yes they have nice looking shots of animals, fun music, and animal noises. But they’re also funny for adults. Because they’re full of totally erroneous information presented in a very earnest manner. With any luck they’ll catch on and I’ll get a ton of angry and combative comments for all of them. Admittedly, it’s kind of a dumb video project.
But I like making videos that make me laugh. So too bad everyone else. These toddler videos are out there now. You can check out the YouTube channel here.
